Previous meetings
December 2024 – basic resuscitation training was provided for members and their family and friends
July 2024 – NHS talking therapies talked us through simple techniques to manage worries about living with cardiac devices
April 2024 – Kate Sanders, Cardiac Scientist, presented a session on heart rhythm disorders, ECGs and how cardiac devices are used to treat them.
January 2024 – interactive group session discussing frequently asked questions, led by Kate Sanders. This was followed by our AGM.
October 2023 – basic resuscitation training was provided for members and their family and friends
July 2023 – A representative from Medtronic came and provided a demonstration of device check-ups
April 2023 – Kate Sanders, Cardiac Scientist, talked about the different heart conditions which may lead to needing a cardiac device implant
January 2023 – Alan Darby, Cardiac Rehabilitation lead inspired us all to start exercising!
November 2022 – Kathryn Carver, Lead Heart Function Nurse, provided an informative session about living with reduced heart function
September 2022 – A social meeting to allow members to share experiences, supported by Kate Sanders to answer any technical device questions
July 2022 – Adam Chiesa and Trevor Fernandes from the East of England Innovation Hub attended to tell us about the project and collect patient feedback
May 2022 – Kieran Hain from Boston Scientific attended with a simulator and programmer to demonstrate ICD check-ups in clinic (Arbury Community Centre)
March 2022 – unfortunately our speaker was not able to attend, so members took the opportunity to share experiences and get to know each other a little better (Arbury Community Centre)
January 2022 – Tracy Goodman presented on behalf of Arrhythmia Alliance about the charity’s work supporting patients with heart rhythm disorders (Zoom session)
October 2021 – Cardiac Physiologist Kate Sanders provided a demonstration of ICD technology and follow-up (Arbury Community Centre)
July 2021 – Summer social meeting held outdoors to facilitate a return to face to face meetings (Cherry Hinton Hall Park)
April 2021 – Dr Gareth Burr led a mindfulness session and Floyd Brown from Boston Scientific joined the meeting for an ICD Q&A (Zoom session)
January 2021 – James Wimbury, Dietitian, provided a talk and Q&A regarding diet and eating for cardiac health (Zoom session)
October 2020 – Cardiac Rehab lead Alan Darby talked about the importance of exercising and special considerations for those with ICDs (Zoom session)
July 2020 – Dr Anna Goodhart spoke to the group about the role of common cardiac medications in managing cardiac conditions (Zoom session)
April 2020 – Cardiac Physiologist Kate Sanders updated the group on plans for ICD follow-up during the Covid-19 pandemic, including the use of home monitoring (Zoom session)
January 2020 – Stephen Clarke from Medtronic brought along some ICDs and a simulator to demonstrate how ICDs work and are followed-up in clinic (Arbury Community Centre)
October 2019 – At this inaugural meeting Kathryn Carver, Lead Heart Function Nurse, spoke to the group about managing symptoms of heart failure (Arbury Community Centre)
